Vijay Character in Thalaivaa

thalaivaa
Vijay is currently shooting in Australia for his upcoming flick ‘Thalaivaa’ directed by A L Vijay. A lot has been speculated about Vijay’s character in the film ever since the title and the first look posters were released. While it was speculated that film could be revolving around politics, the film seems to be somewhat close to it.
It is believed that ‘ Thalaivaa’ is about a leader who has a past and how he emerged has a leader. The director apparently seems to have thrown some light on the film saying that a leaded is the one who doesn’t run behind posts and positions. Instead, honours should follow him/her. This seems to be the crux of the film.
Amala Paul plays Vijay’s heroine in Thalaivaa for the first time, which also has Santhanam and Sathyaraj in important roles. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer, while music is by G V Prakash Kumar.

Chennaiyil Oru Naal Movie Review

chennaiyil-oru-naal-movie-review
Cast : R. Sarathkumar , Prakash Raj , Cheran , Prasanna , Mithun , Raadhika Sarathkumar , Parvathi Menon, Iniya
Direction : Shaheed Kader
Music : Mejo Joseph
Producer : Raadan Media and Sun Pictures
Chennayil Oru Naal – It is based on a real incident which happened in Chennai. But, it was first made in Malayalam with the title as “Traffic” and it was a huge hit. At the hundredth day celebration of this movie, Kamal Haasan, who was the chief guest, announced that he would remake the film into Tamil and act in it. Because of his schedule with Vishwaroopam, he couldn’t make it.
Since, the story is based on Chennai and has a wonderful message related with organ donation, Radhika Sarathkumar brought the rights and produced the movie in Tamil along with Listin. Most of the realistic movies will be emotional or documentary, but this one comes under the “Thriller” Genre. Let us see whether it will satisfy only Realistic Movie Lovers or even Common Man in this Review
Story – It is multi-narrative thriller that intertwines multiple stories around one particular incident which happened in Chennai. Few years ago, heart of a brain dead youngster was transferred from Chennai to Vellore (170 Km) by road within 90 minutes to save a little girl. If Bala had directed this story, he would have surely made our handkerchief completely wet. But, Script writers Bobby-Sanjay have included cinematic ingredients to this incident to give us an edge of seat thriller.
Many actors have acted in this movie – Sarath Kumar, Prakashraj, Cheran, Prasana, Raadhika, Paravathi Menon, Iniya, Jayaprakash, Iniya, Parvathi and the list goes on. Even Surya had done a role which is much more than a Cameo role. Characterization is the major plus for this movie. All the actors have lived their character in the movie
Cinematography by Shehnad Jalal was too good in chasing sequences.
Editor Mahesh Narayanan who did editing for the Malayalam version had done the Tamil Version too. Movie runs for less than 2 hours. 1st half – 1 hr 10 minutes, 2nd half – 46 minutes. Even now, few people couldn’t understand 12B Movie which had slightly different screenplay. Story of the movie is quite complex as there are lots of characters in the movie. Editing had been done brilliantly in such a way that it doesn’t confuse the audience. He will definitely receive awards for the Tamil Version too.
Music director of the movie is Mejo Joseph. He did the Malayalam version too. May be, he was selected due to wonderful Background music in the original version. In Tamil version, BGM was awesome, but songs were very average.
Screenplay plays the key role for any movie and this is the best screenplay you must have seen in recent times. This movie is a lesson for the film aspirants to write a wonderful screenplay even for a simple plot and makes it an edge of seat thriller. Bobby – Sanjay have written the story and screenplay for both the versions and they deserve a SALUTE from us for giving us an engaging movie with a very important message to the society.
Director Shaheed Kadar was assistant director of the Malayalam version director Rajesh Pillai. He had done an excellent remake of the original version. Only negative for the movie would be the first song as it was average and starts the movie on slow note. Climax looks quite cinematic, which is little difficult for us to digest as it is based on a real life incident.
Overall, it is really a GOOD MOVIE in Tamil Cinema after long time with Marvelous Screenplay and Best Editing you must have ever seen.
Verdict : Dont Miss

Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga Movie Review

kedi-billa-killadi-ranga-movie-review
Cast : Vimal , Sivakarthikeyan , Bindhu Madhavi , Regina , Soori
Direction : Pandiraj
Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja
Producer : Escape Artists Motion Pictures,Pasanga Productions,Studio Green
Known for blending humor into the narrative of all his films, director Pandiraj has pulled off yet another full length comedy entertainer with a heart-tugging message towards the end. ‘Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga’ (KBKR) doesn’t boast of a storyline that will keep you hinged to your seats, but thankfully it has comedy to appeal one and all from the word go. Subtly addressing several issues revolving around modern day youngsters, KBKR has a winner written all over it.
Revolving mostly around the friendship of two childhood friends, Kesavan and Murugan, KBKR takes us the lives of these two characters and what happens in their lives when they decided to earn a career in politics. But, when things don’t go as planned, what happens in their lives? This forms the rest of the story.
Director Pandiraj, known for churning commercial entertainer, has this time very intelligently addressed the modern day relationship between parents and children in today’s era. By making a story as entertaining as possible, the film strikes chord with a little melodramatic but effective climax.
The subplots about the filth of politics and the state of politics in this country aptly fit into the narrative of the film. It also paves way to sensible comedy that at that very instant may appear stupid but will make sense later.
Performances by Vimal and Siva are satisfying, while Bindu and Regina also shine in the respective roles. It is extremely difficult to find even a single dull moment in the film, thanks to the director for that. Even though the film is a comedy entertainer at heart, but it succeeds in managing to drive home a thought worth dissection.
Yuvan’s music is partly elevates the film to certain extent, but on the whole it’s the simple story and witty dialogues work in the favour of the film. If you want to watch something worthy of every penny you spend, then here is your film
Verdict : Definitely watchable

Maddy’s Sallu Work Out

MaddyThere is possibly no man on the planet who does not envy him, nor a single girl who is not affected by his attractive looks. We are talking about the chocolate boy forever, Maddy. Many people are jealous of him for his extreme control over his body, his ability to shed pounds and don them at his will. But Maddy busted all this in his micro blog after a work out session with the Bollywood star Salman Khan. He tweeted “Highlight! All misconception of me being super strong and fit were laid to rest when I worked out with the one and only Salman Khan sir. His training was simple and super effective but oh it killed me? oh god How strong is he man. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and lactic acid.”
Last seen on screen in Linguswamy’s ‘Vettai’, Maddy is currently working on the Bollywood flick ‘I Love New Year’. Interestingly, he is playing the lead role in the upcoming English movie ‘The Man Who Knew Infinity’, a biopic on the legendary mathematical genius, Srinivasa Ramanujam.

Mariyaan is the story of human survival – Bharat Bala

Mariyaan
Bharat Bala’s name is synonymous with Vande Mataram, the song and video with his friend A R Rahman. Equally popular was the Jana Gana Mana video. Bala had also directed the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.
His first feature film, Hari Om, produced by Tips Films, was a success on the festival circuit. It premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and won eight audience awards at various festivals.
The shooting of his second film, Mariyaan, in Tamil, with Dhanush and Parvathi Menon (of Poo fame) is over, and Bharat Bala is back in Chennai.
In an exclusive chat with rediff, the director speaks about the unusual film he is making that will release this summer.
It was reported that you narrated the story of Mariyaan after the National awards ceremony in Delhi last year.
Yes. Six months before the awards ceremony, I had come across a news item about three immigrant workers from India being kidnapped in Sudan. Sudan is the largest oil producing country in Africa and a civil war is going on there.
They were working for ONGC there, and were captured by some child soldiers, who demanded a ransom. People of Sudan feel that their oil is being taken away. As always, nobody in India was bothered about the kidnap of its nationals, unlike say, America or Germany or the UK.
These three men somehow managed to escape. It’s a story of human survival, and it fascinated me.

Arya hands are full

Arya
Arya is currently the hottest actor in Kollywood who has no dates till 2015!
His hands are full. Kannan directed Settai is releasing on April 5, followed by Selvaraghavan’s magnum opus Irandam Ulagam in May, and later by Vishnuvardhan’s Ajith starrer tentatively titled Valai. And he is also shooting for Raja Rani directed by Atlee.
Arya commands a whopping Rs 5 Crore today and his films can easily fetch Rs 20 Crore in the market. The star has a decent opening and a fan following especially among ladies and is strong in the B & C belts.
But for Arya , UTV’s Settai is going to be an important film. The film has him in the crucial role done by Imran Khan in the original Delhi Belly. The film has got an U certificate and is being marketed as a family entertainer and songs are already a hit. Settai sees Arya reuniting with Santhanam with whom he gave the blockbuster Boss Engira Baskaran.
Now for Arya, Settai has to become a super hit for him to ride on his star appeal. Arya did not have a release for a long time. And his last release Vettai in January 2012, was pretty lukewarm at the box-office.
So Settai has to get the opening and numbers to make his next film, the big-budget Irandam Ulagam attractive to the buyers. Arya is confident that Settai releasing on April 5 will be a hit, as it is a ‘friendship-comedy’ film which normally works in Kollywood.

Paradesi Movie Review

paradesi-movie-review
Starring : Adharvaa, Vedhika, Dhansika
Direction : Bala
Music : GV Prakash Kumar
Production : B Studios
Bala, the director who gave us hard hitting realistic films is back with Paradesi. First of all Paradesi is not a regular entertaining film. It is a film which brilliantly portrays the cruel slavery in the name of Tea plantation.
The film opens with “Chalur”, a simple village. People in the village were not rich but they live their life happily. Raja (Atharva) or ottuporuki (this is how people calls him) is an innocent guy who is the announcer in the village. Angama (Vedhika) a boyish girl who falls in love with Raja. The life of the people in Chalur village goes well until a guy, from tea estate comes and books the entire people for tea cultivation. The rest of the story tells us the heart haunting life of the innocent people.
Bala is known for his brilliant characterization and once again he proves that he is best in it. Each and every character in the film is awesome. There are so many awe moments in the film like “When a family hides a person’s death during marriage function as it should not stop the village people in eating good food”. Bala clearly shown the cruel capitalism in many scenes and every scene has an underlying message. Especially the hard hitting climax conveys the total pain of slavery.
Atharva lived the character as innocent Raja, especially his mannerism and expressions are perfect. When Atharva says “ Rasa Vandiyavutruven” it is so touching. Vedhika as Angama is beautiful and her expressions are so cute. Both Atharva and Vedhika share an awesome chemistry in the climax and the scene don’t have much dialogue.
Dhanshikaa plays a bold character and she did her role to the perfection. Dhanshikaa ‘s voice suits the character and even her character was sketched so beautifully.
The film’s greatest strength is GV Prakash Kumar’s music and Chezhiyan’s camera. Be it the background score or the songs GV Prakash has done a brilliant job, especially the climax BGM gives us goose bumps. Chezhiyan’s camera work is scintillating and he did a fabulous job in portraying 1930’s India.
Nanjil Nadan’s dialogue is perfect and he has done a good research in reprising the 1930’s dialects and slang. Editing by Kishore T.E is crisp and clear.
Overall Paradesi has Bala’s stam all over. It might not engage the mass audience but the film is world class in the lines of Schindler’s list and sure to win so much of accolades for Paradesi team.
Verdict : Hard hitting film

Vathikuchi Movie Review

vathikuchi-movie-review
Starring : Dhileeban, Anjali, Vatsan, Jegan, Sampath, Jeyaprakash, Saranya Ponvannan
Direction : Kinslin
Music : M Ghibran
Production : AR Murugadoss,Fox star studios
AR Murugadoss and Fox International has given us “Engeyum Eppothum” which garnered critical and commercial acclaim. Now the combo is back with Vatthikuchi which is directed by Kinslin who was a former associate of AR Murugadoss.
Vatthikuchi is a story about a share auto driver and his struggle when he is hovered by unusual circumstances. Shakthi (Dileban) an honest driver lives his life peacefully but his honest and helping tendency leads him to be a enemy to three different gangs. The rest of the story tells us how Dileban wins all the three gangs with brawn and brain.
Dileban is good in stunt performance but he have to improve his expressions and dialogue delivery. Anjali plays the bubbly character and as usual she did the role with an ease. Among the number of actors only Sampath and Jegan did a good job. Other actors like Jayprakash,Ravimariya ,Vatsan did a okay performance.
Vatthikuchi’s biggest strength is Kinslin’s screenplay, RB Gurudev’s cinematography and Rajasekar’s stunt choreography. Dileban’s point of narration and his mind voice is okay at start but after a point of time it is repetitive. Ghibran’s background score is good and so as the songs, especially the Vatthikuchi theme adds the sparkling feel to the stunt scenes.
So many scenes in the first half is promising like the one where Dileban takes on Sampath and also the love portions between Dileban and Anjali. The way Jegan gang capture Dileban is dashing.
Though the film looks interesting some scenes are silly like the one where Dileban takes rest and eat food before the climax. The film also has many logical loopholes. Anjali’s comic portion in first half falls flat.
Overall the film is a decent attempt and it is a huge platform for Dileban as an action hero.
Verdict : Vatthikuch has its sparkling moments
2.5stars

Karuppampatti – Ajmal’s portfolio as an actor

Ajmal-Ameer-Karuppampatti
Southern actor Ajmal Ameer says the four different looks he sports in upcoming Tamil romantic-drama “Karuppampatti” will be his portfolio as an actor.
“I consider the roles I essay in the film as my portfolio as an actor. I’ve never done such diverse roles in my career, and doing it all in one film was physically exhausting,” Ajmal said.
“I sport two looks of the 1980s and one look as an old man. The fourth look is that of a youngster of the present day. There were instances when I was supposed to shoot with all four looks in a day, and it was extremely challenging because each look had different expressions and mannerism,” he added.
The film, directed by Prabhu Raja Cholan, is the story of a man who comes from France to a village in Tamil Nadu in search of his family roots. Produced by Sundar K, “Karuppampatti” is coming out Friday.

Sundattam movie review

sundattam-movie-review
Cast : Irfan , Arunthathi , Madhu
Direction : Bramha G
Producer : Annadurai R
Music : Britto
Sundattam – What does it mean? It means Carrom Board Game. Is it Remake of Telugu Movie “Striker” – No. It is a fresh script from Vijay Tv’s most successful teleserial “Kana Kaanum Kalangal” Team. KKK may be the only serial which most of the Youngsters must have watched during their school / college days This mega-serial crossed almost 500 episodes and even after 6 years, people will remember the character names of the actors as it is the only serial which most of the Youngsters must have watched during their school / college days. Irfan (Vineeth), Madhu (Pachai) & Stalin (Rishi) have done the lead roles in the movie which is directed by KKK Director “Brahma G Dev”. Let us see whether the most successful Teleserial team makes a Strong Debut in Tamil Cinema in this review.
Story: Carrom Board game plays the pivotal role in this movie. Madhu (Pachai) who is drug and Carrom board addict thinks himself as a King of the Game. But, Irfan who plays Carrom board for fun and to earn money beats him in the Club and Madhu’s Area. Madhu decides to take Revenge against him. Story may look pretty simple, but execution in the first half was too good.
Irfan plays the lead role in the movie. He had got huge number of female followers when he acted in KKK Serial. This role fits him perfectly and he has done a good job in all departments (Acting, Fighting & Dancing). Madhu had played the Villain role and he is the real USP for this movie. He had acted brilliantly in his debut movie and definitely will be getting more offers in Tamil Cinema. Stalin (Rishi) role doesn’t have much opportunity to perform and had acted well. It is really difficult to identify Madhu & Stalin as they look completely different in this movie. Arundhati makes a comeback with this movie as Heroine. She looks very homely and beautiful. She had tried her level best to act in a role which is monotonous.
Cinematography by Balagurunadhan really captures the mood of the movie and it was good.
Music by debutant Britto was too good. Background Music is very important for thriller and he had done a wonderful job. “Narumugayae” is one of the good melody songs in recent times. Song was used for Promotion before the release and it is already a Hit. Narumugayae version in the movie is different from the promotional song which we have seen. “Crazy Penne” Song in the movie NKPK was good, but they didn’t use it in the movie. But, Director had taken a wise decision of including this song which created little expectation for the movie. But, at the same time, in the second half, there are almost 4 songs which really slow down the pace of the movie and test the patience of the audience.
Editor Elley Dasan had to be appreciated and at the same time criticized for his editing in the movie. Scenes in the movie are scattered to make it interesting for the audience and it had really worked out mostly. But, few scenes in the movie are edited and it is not connected properly.
Overall, Second half of the first half of the movie had a very interesting screenplay and was quite racy till the interval block. But, second half fails completely to maintain the interest which first half had created and ends with a Cinematic Climax which was quite bad. You may feel like 2 different directors have directed the first half and second half while watching the movie. First half was too good and second half was little below average. You can feel that scenes in the movie are quite inspired from various movies. Story travels in the year 1990’s while the costumes were like 2000’s.
Director “Brahma G Dev” had given us a movie which is completely different from his serial “KKK” with the same team. No one say that this movie is completely done by First Timers as the movie was technically good. Screenplay in the first half and dialogues were good in the movie. But, since most of the story is revealed in the first half itself, second half doesn’t have many scenes to engage the audience.
