Vishwaroopam 2 for Diwali ?

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is busy shooting a sequel to Vishwaroopam with his two heroines, Andrea and Pooja Kumar, in Thailand presently . One may recall that when Vishwaroopam ended, Kamal indicated that there would be a sequel to it. The actor/director has shot most of the portions for Vishwaroopam 2, while he was canning the first part. Now, sources from Aascar Film, which produces it, inform KT that some of the high octane action sequences and song numbers are being shot in Thailand with foreign technicians in picturesque locales. The unit is expected to move to Bangkok next. With the final schedule in Delhi, the film is expected to complete shooting soon and Aascar Ravichandran is planning to release the movie during Diwali.

I am not a 1 crore heroine – Priya Anand

After the release of her latest Tamil film Ethir Neechal, opposite Sivakarthikeyan, rumour mills went into overdrive that Priya Anand has hiked her remuneration to an ‘unimaginable’ amount. And that’s not all. Apparently the actress also charges a bomb to attend events, much to the chagrin of event organizers.

Ask the Vaamanan actress about it and she is quick to respond, “It is natural for any actress to increase her remuneration as she progresses in the industry. I am working with some of the biggest names in the film industry and producers give me what I deserve. The reports have exaggerated the entire thing and I am not going to be bothered about it. I would call it ‘unreasonable’ if I charged 1 crore, but I am not a 1-crore heroine yet.

Ramya Nambeesan not up for Kannada yet?

Ramya Nambeesan of Pizza fame, may be popular in Tamil and Malayalam films, and has also been part of Telugu films, but it looks like her Kannada debut continues to be elusive. The actress was approached for a lead role in the recently launched Komal-starrer Pungidas. While the film team went on to announce Remya being a part of the film, the actress herself confirms this will not mark her foray into Sandalwood.

“Yes, I have been approached for this particular film, but I will not be able to take up the role. There have been no commitments from either side, so I am not sure why my name is already floating around,” says Ramya, who is currently busy shooting for Tamil and Malayalam films. “I would love to take up a Kannada film as I am yet to make a debut there. But I don’t think I will be able to do so with this film as my schedule is packed till much later this year,”

TVSK A Mass Entertainer – Hansika

Hansika is excited about her next release, UTV Motion Pictures’ Theeya Velai Seiyanum Kumaru, produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapoor.
About her character in the film, she says, “I play a girl called Sanjana in the film. I essay a typical modern girl, who works in an IT firm. I have worked on my costumes and make-up to keep it simple and elegant. At the same time I have a glamorous look for the songs. Director Sundar C took a lot of interest in my look for the film. Sanjana will be one of the best characters I have played so far. TVSK is a complete entertainment package.” She adds, “I had a good time shooting for the film as well and I thoroughly enjoyed the shoot in Japan.”
It looks like Hansika and Santhanam’s combo has also worked well for the film. She says, “We have teamed up in our earlier films and the combo was appreciated. In this film too, there are a lot of scenes involving me and Santhanam, which are great. It was comfortable working with Siddharth as well. I am really looking forward to this pucca entertainer.”

I dont want to take the blame for the delay of my films – Simbhu

Simbu announced on his micro-blogging page that he has dropped both his upcoming films Vaalu and Vettai Mannan, which have been in the making for a long time. KT spoke to the actor on the issue, and he said, “There is a general opinion that I’m always responsible for any delay in my projects. But, this time, I didn’t want to take the blame because it was the producer, who was responsible for the delay. Both the films are being produced by the same person (S S Chakravarthy) and he was busy with other commitments. I didn’t get any update from his production house about resuming the shoots of these projects for a very long time. So, I had to announce that I’m putting these films on hold, though I was very much keen on completing them.”
Following Simbu’s tweet, we hear that the producer had contacted him and the two have sorted out the issue. “I will be shooting for Vaalu shortly. We have just nine days of shoot left. Shooting for Vettai Mannan, which is 50 per cent complete, will commence soon after that,” Simbu added.

Maasani Movie Review

amil cinema has continuously churned out religious supernatural films to cater to the sentiments of a large section of the masses, predominately the womenfolk. Sri Green Productions’ Masani provides yet another offering for that specific market.

During an early part of the film, the young hero Akhil schools a bratty young girl, played by Sija Rose, about the simplicity and intelligence of the village-folk, clearly spelling out the film’s target audience. Masani’s story is centered around an unfinished idol of a deity that continues to haunt the town of Kalvadagam. While the idea attracts interest the nature in which it is exposed is rather taxing for the viewer.

A fair bit of the first half is spent detailing petty one-upmanship between a young pair, lengthy comedy sequences which are simply below par and a couple of songs that do nothing to compliment the narrative. Masani’s saving grace is definitely its established star cast that features the likes of Sarath Babu, Roja, Aadukalam Naren, Uma Padmanabhan, Mano Bala, Y.Gee.Mahendran and several other familiar faces. While they might not have been challenged by the characters that they portray they can do no wrong with their performances. In addition, their involvement does add more credibility to the project.

Masani also boasts of the re-entry of Ramky, and one must say it is nice to see him back! His role has scope for comedy, romance and action and he gives the impression that he’s picked up exactly from where he left off. The central character of the film is undoubtedly Iniya. Apart from possessing enchanting looks, the young lady continues to show that there’s no shortage of talent within her. But sadly for her this film may just slip under the radar despite delivering yet another strong performance. The other pair in the film, Akhil and Sija Rose, is just about adequate.

The production value of the film is quite decent with good camera work and follows all the usual cues required to creep out the audience from time to time. One feels that the scope of VFX in this film has been wasted with below par graphics when compared to the standards the audiences have been exposed to. Clocking at nearly 2 and half hours, the film certainly overstays its welcome and the engaging factor takes a beating. Composer Fazil has definitely put some effort into the songs and the BGM and it shows, even if it’s occasionally loud.

With no 3D factor to add value, Masani turns out to be a normal fare. The film could find acceptance with the B & C centre audience.

Verdict: Old styled temple tale.

Anjali to be arrested ?

Following a defamation case filed by director Kalanjiyam, Anjali has been issued summons to appear before the magistrate for a hearing. The actress has been issued summons to appear before the court on June 5th failing which an arrest warrant may be issued.

It may be mentioned here that Anjali had alleged that her aunt and director Kalanjiyam are torturing her and have usurped all the money and properties brought out of her earnings. She also alleged that Kalanjiyam threatened to murder her. Director Kalanjiyam has denied all these allegations and had filed a defamation suit against the actress for making misleading statements against him.

Kalanjiyam was earlier planning to approach the various bodies in Kollywood requesting them to take action against actress Anjali who failed to turn up for his film shoot, before filing the case. The actress was supposed to shoot for the film Oor Suttri Puranam on April 24.

How Are The Actors

The likes of Sana Khan, Suresh Krishna. Aravind, Subin, Shanthi among others in the lead. Sana Khan is at her best. She emotes well and renders justice to the character. It is tricky and demands more emotional outburst. And Sana Khan does it well. Suresh Krishna as entreprenur fits the bill well. Watchout for the supporting cast who does their best.

How Is The Direction

The direction is good. Anil has wielded the megaphone for Antony Eastman’s story. The movie unfortunately goes in a snail’s pace and songs put a brake often. At places, his direction reminds one of watching a mega serial.

Hows The Music

Berny Ignatius has scored the music. The songs have more of Malayalam flavour. It has everything ranging from melody to some peppy numbers.

Sanakhan wants to become an actress. She hails from a poor family. She manages to get a chance, SHe becomes popular. But falls for a business man RK (Suresh Krishna). Her life changes after the6y come close. A twist happens in the form of RK’s son. What happens then is the climax.

Analysis

On the wholoe, the movie is no match to The Dirty Picture. It has everything one would want to know about Silk Smitha. But they are presented in the form of a melodrama. Had the events been made more brisk and intense, the end product could have been great.

Youtube & Facebook seems to be the biggest Promoting tools right now. No one even heard the movie name before “Pistah” Song got released in Youtube. It went on viral and reached 6 Lakhs views within few days. It reached wider range of audience and most importantly, the song impressed Udhaynidhi Stalin and made him to distribute this movie. Now, the movie had got little expectation as it was released by Stalin, who tastes continuous success.

If you are wondering, why the leading actors are from Malayalam industry. Here goes the answer – this movie was a Bilingual one. Malyalam Version got released last week and receiving mixed to positive response. Hero Nivin Pauly had got good fan following in Malayalam after his Superb Hit Movie “Thattathin Marayathu”. Heroine Nazriya Nazim is another big reason for decent opening for this movie as many of the youngsters have started liking her even before seeing her first film (Power Star – Sila Perae Pakkamayae Pidikum). Let us see whether the Tamil Version will satisfy the Common Man in this Review.

Story: Posters had the tag “First Ever Tamil Cinema that had Nothing New”. They were absolutely correct. The story is as old as MGR’s period. But, the narration style is very fresh and will engage the audience. Hero who is jobless searches for ways to pay the debts borrowed from the Villain.

Nivin Pauly had acted in more than 10 Malayalam Movies. But, his movie “Thattain Marayathu” (2012) was one of the biggest hit in Malayalam Cinema. Hero role in this movie is similar to a common man and he had done a decent job.

Nazriya Nazim – She started her career in 2006 as Child Artist and acted as Heroine in 2012. This confirms that she is Minor (Hope this answers the Million Dollar Question from Youngsters). Many youngsters will come to theaters to see this beautiful girl on the big screen. She had acted well and looks cute in the first half. She doesn’t have much screen presence in the second half. But, you may not feel bored as the last 30 minutes will be a LAUGH RIOT. She will be pairing with Dhanush, Arya, Jai in future movies and definitely will win the hearts of Tamilians.

Simha – He had done cameo role in Pizza and notable role in Soodhu Kavvum (Nayanathara Fan). He plays the role of a Comedy Villain and have done exceedingly well. Definitely, he will get more offers in the future.

Thambi Ramaiah and John Vijay’s characters in the movie were excellent. Thambi Ramaiah had really rocked in this movie. John Vijay’s voice modulation was too good. Scenes between them are the major positives for this movie

There are lots of supporting actors and almost everyone have done a wonderful job.

Music by Debutant Rajesh Murugesan was awesome. Background Music is major plus for this movie. Most expected “Pistah” Song was placed perfectly – during the chasing scene and climax of the movie. Promotional Pistah Song comes during the END CREDITS and 90% of the audience left the theatre only after the song got over, which confirms that this song is the latest sensation in Tamil Nadu.

Cinematography by Anand Chandran was too good. He had experimented lot of things and it had come out really well.

Multiplexes have Subtitles by Rekhs on all days which is a great move. It will help people who doesn’t knew Tamil to watch good movies. Rekhs Subtitles were Short & Sweet asusual.

“I steal from every movie ever made” – Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino. Alphonse Putharen do feels the same and agrees to it before the title credits itself. He is not only the director, but also editor of this movie. Hence, he should be knowing which are the scenes needed for the movie than anyone else in the world. Movie runs for less than 2 hours. Scenes are interlinked brilliantly.

Movie doesn’t have a story as mentioned in the posters, but have a unique approach. Screenplay of the movie was good with lots of twists in the movie. But, very very slow scenes with lengthy dialogues for almost 90 minutes is huge drawback for this movie. Scenes after Nassar’s introduction and Climax scenes were BRILLIANT (last 30 minutes). Nassar adds huge value to the movie with his wonderful acting and excellent dialogues. Movie picks up speed only after his intro.
It is yet another movie for people who likes movies similar to NKPK, Soodhu Kavvum,etc.

Amaithi Padai 2 – It is a comeback movie for Director Manivannan after 12 years. He is one of the few directors who had given movies with different genres – Gopurangal Saivathillai, Ilamai Kalangal, Nooravadhu Naal, Jallikattu, Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi, Amaithi Padai etc. As you can see, Sathyaraj had acted in most of his movies. This will be his 50th Movie as director and Sathyaraj had acted in his 50% of the movies. Sathyaraj and Manivannan are best of the best friends. Even Manivannan mentioned that Sathyaraj knows him much better than his wife and vice versa. Amaithi Padai is one of the best Political Genre Movie till date. Now, the duo are back again with Part 2 after 20 years. Let us see whether they will be able to give yet another good political drama to Tamil Cinema in this review

Story: It is about a Politician who is ready to even kill his son’s wife to save his Chief Minister Post.

Sathyaraj – Ammavasai, Deputy CM couldn’t achieve as much as Ammavasai, MLA achieved due to lesser screen presence. Ammavasai characterization in Amaithi Padai was the major reason for the success. But, in this movie, you would wonder whether Ammavasai is a Comedian / Villain / Supporting actor in the first half. Younger ..No no.. Middle Aged Sathyaraj comes only in the interval block and just comes in 4 – 5 scenes without creating any impact to the story

Raghu Manivannan has few more scenes than required in the first half. There are dialogues in the movie in which Manivannan teases Politician for making their son as successor. But, even he had done the same mistake, by giving more scenes to Raghu Manivannan, whose acting looks very artificial.

Seeman has much more scenes than Raghu Manivannan & has importance equal to Sathyaraj in the first half. He even has an intro buildup scene, similar to leading heroes. When you think that he may do the role of younger Sathyaraj in this movie after lots of build up in the first half. But, the way, his characterization ends in the movie was pathetic. At the same time, his dialogues in the movie are extremely bold and convey message to the society. He almost plays the role of “Prabhakaran” in the movie saving people who are living in the forest. Manivannan had tried to show us the sufferings of Srilankan Tamilians with his characterization and it doesn’t do justice to the story or screenplay. Seeman’s characterization is major drawback to this movie.

Manivannan plays the role of sidekick Manimaran yet again. He is one of the few actors in the world who has acted in more than 400 movies. Chemistry between him and Sathyaraj is much better than chemistry of the present heroes and heroines. Amaithi Padai was one of the few movies for which audio cassettes were released with dialogues. Dialogues spoken by him & Sathyaraj only gives some relief to the audience.

Mrudala, Komal & Varsha makes debut in this movie. None of them have good role. Characterization of the female characters was very bad. In each and every scene, their role differs.

Music is by James Vasanthan. He gave us two wonderful melody songs – Kangal Irandal (Subramaniyapuram) & Naan Pogiren (Naanayam). He didn’t get any opportunity to give wonderful melody songs after Naanayam and the list continues.

Dialogue Writer & Actor Manivannan had done a wonderful job in this movie. Director Manivannan had failed to make a story with engaging screenplay. He had given importance to dialogues & Srilankan Issue rather than concentrating on Story. Dialogues in the movie are too bold. Sathyaraj openly criticizes Vijayakanth, Chidambaram & current political trends without compromising on anything.

Ram Charan Brawl With Car Driver

Mega Power Star Ram Charan was involved in a road side quarrel. His bodyguards reportedly assaulted a guy for not giving way to his car.

The incident happened near GVK mall in Banjara Hills. Ram Charan was driving his Aston Martin car and it was obstructed by a Maruti Alto car in which software engineers Phaneesh and Kalyan were travelling.

Ram Charan, who got angry thinking that the two guys blocked his way deliberately, stopped their car and had an argument with them. He called up his bodyguards over phone and one of the bodyguards punched Phaneesh on the face.

As the victims did not lodge any case, the police did not register any complaint.

While the film has been tentaively titled as ‘Valai’ by the media and fans, the producer of the film AM Ratnam has said that the title Valai is not finalised. They are still looking at other titles and will take a call soon on the title.

In the film Ajith is rumoured to have played the role of a stylish IT hacker. Actor Kishore, who is known for his sleek performance, and Rana Daggubati are the latest to join the cast list of this multi starrer.

Simbhu ropes in Akon for Love Anthem

Akon seems to be in demand. He crooned two songs for Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One and now, his next project is with Kollywood actor Simbu. The singer will be recording with Simbu for his Love Anthem. He will be in Chennai till May 6, and will also shoot for the song’s video.

“Simbu is all set to record another version of his Love Anthem, and is collaborating with Akon for it. This number will talk about the oppression south Indians face in other countries. It will be more of a tribute song, and will focus mainly on spreading love and feeling of oneness,” says a source.

Simbu, of course, is excited about this collaboration, and says, “I’m very happy that Akon is coming down to namma Chennai to record for the final version of the Love Anthem. He will be in the city for three days to record for the song. He will also shoot for a day for it. The song has words in about 96 languages, and is about unity. We were scheduled to shoot in the US when I toured there, but couldn’t work out the dates at that time and now, it’s finally happening.”

“In his previous collaborations, Akon had just lent his voice. But with Love Anthem, he will be contributing to the lyrics department and also feature in its video,” adds the source.
