Endrendrum Punnagai Movie Review

Endrendrum-Punnagai-Movie-Review
Staring : Jiiva,Trisha, Andrea, Vinay, Santhanam
Director : Ahmed
Music : Harris Jayaraj
Production : Red Giant Movies
“Endrendrum Punnagai” is not a film about the lives of three friends; it is about one despicable, self-centered and maddeningly unreasonable man who happens to have two friends. Gowtham, Sri and Baby are inseparable chaddi-buddies who run an advertising agency together. Due to his Mommy issues, Gowtham has a strong aversion towards womankind and, for some reason, expects his friends to remain bachelors for their life. Due to his Daddy issues, Gowtham is not on speaking terms anymore with his Father. Time decides to test their friendship.
Gowtham is a self-entitled prick who wouldn’t talk to his Father but continues to live in his bungalow and shamelessly drives around in a BMW which he could not have earned. I have seriously begun to wonder why Jiiva is so open to playing characters with a tendency to often be a complete asshole. I had same issues with how his character treated the girl he fancied in “Siva Manasula Sakthi”. Most people who watched theat film for just its comedy didn’t take offense because, to them, SMS stood for “Siva Manasula Santhanam”. The way his Gowtham casually disposes his lifelong friends for something so petty, “Endrendrum Punnagai” only keeps giving you more and more reasons to hate him. Blaming his Mommy issues for his unreasonable and pathetic attitude is such a convenient excuse. I sort of know what it feels like to lose a close friend, but the film offered me no reason to relate to it.
With Andrea’s Soniya and Trisha’s Priya, “Endrendrum Punnagai” glorifies the preexisting Virgin-Whore dichotomy in female characterizations in our films. While one is an absurdly promiscuous woman who hornily bites the ear of the man she met for the first time a few minutes ago, the other is a pushover in Salwar Kameez who cries for something that’s not her fault. Even within the context of its casual slut-shaming, the character of Soniya, besides being completely irrelevant to the plot, is made out to be a total bitch who halts a shooting of an ad-film in Europe for bafflingly random power trips.
In order to please the lowest common denominator, and because the male point of view is all that matters, the film continues to bash the wives for turning marriages into a living hell. One friend of Gowtham who was very much in love and hopeful before his wedding is now saying, “phone eh vai di, tortue pannatha!” to his wife of few months. Even Gowtham’s Mother is referred to as the Odi Pona Amma by everyone in the film, including his Father. Who even knows what happened there? Sri and Baby reveal to Gowtham that they got married because that was his father’s last wish. Then what about the lives of the women they are married to? They didn’t sign up for a lifetime with sexist alcoholics. Why is Director Ahmed so deeply misogynistic?
At the end, Gowtham doesn’t tell Priya that she makes him want to be a better person. Instead, he thanks her for changing him into a “nalla manushan”. It’s done and dusted, apparently. After all that he has done to the people around him, Gowtham is completely undeserving of happiness- not so soon, anyway. But because he is the “hero”, the film lets him off the hook way too easily. He makes up with his Father and even gets the girl he so doesn’t deserve. Besides awful product placements and useless America mapillais, it is the shoehorned character transformation that’s keeping this love story from rising above clichés.

Verdict – Endrendrum Punnagai is a predictable, under-achieving RomCom with a very unlikable lead character.

Amalapaul doing anything to get the chance of Gautham menon Flick

amalapaul
Few days before KT reported Amala Paul tricked Trisha out from Gowtham Menon’s Thuruva Nakshathiram and there by became pair for Suriya.
She was double happy, as she has very recently completed Thalaiva with Vijay and now pairing with Suriya.
Now, a bad news seems to be in waiting for Amala Paul in the form of Samantha.
For some reason, it is said that Gowtham is not happy to go with Amala and he is inclined towards Samantha.
Amala Paul is trying her best to pull Gowtham to her side.
It is gossiped now that, she hugs and kiss those who are well known to Gowtham Menon, so that they will recommend her to him!!!

Trisha to be paired opposite Balakrishna ?

trishaLooks like the hunt for Balakrishna’s leading lady for his next big screen outing has come to an end. After considering several names to play the female lead, the makers of the film have zeroed in on Trisha to be paired opposite Balayya for the action entertainer directed by Boyapati Sreenu. If things work out, then this would be the first time Trisha will share screen space with Balayya.
A source close to Trisha says, “Yes, talks for signing Balakrishna’s next film are currently on, even though things are yet to materialize. Reportedly, Trisha heard the script and was impressed with it and even finds her character very interesting. Since this would be the first time Trisha will be paired opposite Balayya, the actress is all excited to work with the star hero, and is indeed looking forward to the project. The actors managers are currently working on the dates and it’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out”.
Trisha is currently part of Jiiva’s Endrendrum Punnagai and Jayam Ravi’s Boologam. She is also working on MS Raju’s Tamil-Telugu bilingual RUM (Rambha, Urvasi Menaka).

When Trisha’s dream came true

Trisha
When southern actress Trisha Krishnan tweeted of a dream come true, she was not referring to the success of her film or the winning of an award; what she spoke of was a swim, with creatures of the sea.
“A dream came true. Swam with different species of fish, octopus, lobsters, prawns, lemon sharks and dolphins,” Trisha posted on her Twitter page from an undisclosed location.
She considers scuba diving one of her most memorable experiences.
“Scuba diving truly one of my most memorable experiences. Indescribable, therapeutic. So deep, so dark and so silent, the ocean is a world by itself,” she added.
Trisha also crossed off scuba diving off her bucket list. Next, she is off to Africa to swim with great white sharks.
“A born traveler and a born thrill seeker. Time to pump it up and swim with the great white sharks of Africa. Coming to you soon,” she posted further.
She is currently on a vacation in between shoots of Tamil films “Boologam” and “Endrendrum Punnagai” and Telugu film “RUM”.

Trisha New Respect for Heroes

Trisha
She is known as miss congeniality for her cool nature with co-stars, but here is something that Trisha admits on her new found respect for heroes. It all happened during the shoot of her upcoming film ‘Rum’.
The actress had to pull her efforts for a breathtaking action sequence choreographed by FEFSI Vijayan, which has seemingly enlightened her to give more respect for heroes. We see it from the tweet on her micro-blogging page, ‘Day 1- Action begins… Vijayan master on a roll. Swerving cars, twisty lanes n me at the wheel. PHEW phew!! New found respect for all heroes… tsk tsk.’

Bhoologam Movie Press Release

Jayam Ravi who has been playing a chocolate boy role with perfection and had been making a few hearts skip their beat with his handsome looks, naughty performance and feel good movies has been leaping into the big shoes of a mass hero and a star . If his prowess for action was proved right in ‘Peraanmai’ by Director S .P. Jhananathan here comes “Bhooloham” to cement his place as an action star !!! It is no co incidence that “Bhooloham” is directed by N. Kalyanakrishnan who had associated Director Jhananathan in all his ventures.
Producer V. Ravichandran of Aascar films who is known for his eyes and ears for successful formulas in film making was impressed by the narration style of the young director and is confident that the making and the cast of the film will rank itself into the big film category!!!
The director who had spent considerable period in researching the nuances of ‘boxing’ in north madras says this film has a vision and we are focused… Set in the back drop of North Madras still a haven for “boxing” in this part of the country Jayam Ravi plays the role of a Boxer, “Bhooloham” who hit the national headlines maneuvered by the demons and compulsions of the society.
Trisha beautiful as ever celebrates her decade long relationship with the tinsel world by playing the female lead a role very contrary to the jumping around the tree heroine role!!!
Prakashraj hasn’t been challenged in terms of characters considering his potentiality…it is true that there are not much challenges ahead of him when it comes to sheer performance. In ‘Bhooloham’ he plays a ‘powerful role’…and virtually a powerful role …his could be the most discussed in the near future.
The casting is power packed we would rather say when you have Arpit ranga as National Boxing Champion, Rajesh as State Boxing champion , Shanmugarajan and Ponvannan . The song depicting the relationship between Jayam ravi the disciple and Ponvannan the master would go a long way in the emotional angle , and I was amazed by the acting potentiality of Jayam ravi in those scenes …he was terrific , the director gleefully endorses ..
While I have penned the script and screen play along with directing the film , Iam very fortunate to have Jahanathan sir to pen the dialogues and his outlook on the society has been reflected well in every single phrace !!!
The sound of music is orchestered by Srikkanth Deva, and his numbers in the movie will definitely cater to the ears of the masses, the ample proof is the popularity it enjoys among the unit members now. Lyric writer Vijaysagar brings the ‘typical slang and culture’ of North Madras with his songs and the director of photography SR. Sathish kumar of Peraanmai fame (unseen visuals were introduced to the audience in his ‘taming of the forest’) and art director debutant AR Mohan combine to gather to bring the color and culture of the boxing back ground!!!
The icing of the cake for an action flick is always the editing and with Editor V .T .Vijayan on the helm it stands assured. Every eye that watched ‘Peraanmai’ was in awe on the intensity of the stunt sequence and every lip muttered ‘wow’…here is a repeat rather much intensified action by the stunt master Miracle Michael (stunt director for Kochadaiyaan).
The ultimate attraction of ‘Bhooloham’ would be the action sequence involving Jayam Ravi and Nathan jones (Hollywood artiste from America, who stands tall… literally seven feet…who has got fans all around the globe “Troy” fame). Here is a clash where it will not be just the sparks but bomb shells!!! Watch out for ‘Bhooloham’. The stage is all set for a knockout punch and we will deliver the punch in style…The director flashes his toothy smile …

Samar in financial crisis

2012 seems to be unlucky for Vishal and Trisha, as both the stars didn’t enjoy single Tamil release during the year, while their Samar is in postponing spree, due to deep financial crisis.
Buzz making vibes in Kollywood tinsel town that Samar is facing one more case in the court filed by equipment dealers, Anand Cine Services for payment of Rs.1.20cr. While theater owners wanted Samar to clear all the financial problems before the screens are booked, reasoning this Samar might also get postponed once again to dates post Pongal 2013.
Directed by Thiru, Samar music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the soundtracks are highly entertaining the music lovers. Sunaina is also playing one of the lead roles in Samar under Jaya Balaji Real Media banner.
